TRIGVA offers Front-haul and Shore-end services primarily to the Submarine Cable Industry and their users. We are involved in projects along the east and west coast of Africa and are extending globally to meet the growing demand for diverse and innovative solutions. Protection & Stabilisation

TRIGVA provides cable protection and stabilisation along the coast of Africa and is regularly called upon to provide emergency repairs and maintenance to cables that have lateral movement on the seabed or as the cable enters the sea. Our services include bagging, jetting & pinning cables to the reef. We manufacture our own specialised clamps that are used in this procedure. It is critical that the cables are not only protected but also stabilised to maintain their 25-year design life .

Cable Installation

Articulated Pipes & Uraduct products are installed by TRIGVA. These allow for the protection of submarine cables as the cable transverses over the seabed, especially where the wave action & swell of the sea acts upon the cable.  This protection system was developed to protect subsea cables from critical elements like abrasion external aggression to the cable.

Cable Analysis investigation & qualification

Failure of cables systems happen due to a number of reasons and the down-time is not only disruptive, but can be costly and also dangerous if left unresolved.

There are a number of factors that come into play and these need to be considered:

  • Marine traffic, fishing vessels
  • Unstable weather conditions & earthquakes
  • Incorrect installation
  • Dredging; which is constrained by the effects of waves and currents

TRIGVA is qualified to investigate the causes of cable failure which includes a detailed analysis & feedback of the damage. We provide this at no additional cost to our clients.

Subsea cable maintenance

We employ a team of highly qualified jointers and engineers who attend to emergencies, because we are based locally our response, is what sets us apart.

TRIGVA attends to the repairs and maintenance of cables which includes:

  • Shallow water jointing
  • Splicing and re-sleeving
  • Replacement of shore-end ducts
  • Rerouting of land routes and emergency reburial & protection of cables

Civils and planning

Our classic projects start with the preparation and planning of cable route studies. We understand that each project is different and requires flexibility in understanding so our team conduct the necessary surveys and geo-tagging. The work we carry out includes:

  • Trenching from shallow water to the beach manhole; and to end at the cable station
  • The burial of cables
  • Ducting
  • Beach and land jointing
  • Installation of System Earthing

Earthing Installations

Earthing installations (Earth Plate & Electrodes) are done by our team of engineers who execute the installation of shore end cables into the beach manhole and complete the termination of the subsea cable into a sea-land joint.

We understand the importance of this process and provide the necessary expertise to ensure quality and safety in all of our projects.

Cable jointing

Our team of engineers are well versed in universal land and beach joints and deliver innovative solutions to repairs and ongoing maintenance. We have pioneered the interim joint solution that reduces down time considerably, saving both time and money.

It is a reflection of our commitment to proving solutions and no matter what, we will come up with the solution. Cable jointing maintenance and repairs includes troubleshooting, splicing and re-sleeving of ducts. 

Cable awareness

Maintaining data integrity is crucial and we complete the critical cable awareness studies to various stakeholders.

We meet with environmentalists, Municipalities, port authorities, marine / ski boat clubs and other users of the sea to sensitise them of the cable location and the potential hazards that the cable presents. This information is made available to the relevant Cable owner or maintenance authority.

Cable fault risk assessment

Emergency repairs are often necessary, our skills set & availability ensures minimal downtime. This highlights the importance of annual survey cable inspections which we conduct and recommend the appropriate remedial actions. 

Consulting and project management

TRIGVA will meet with the necessary stakeholders to conduct and oversee a project from beginning to end. We don’t leave you stranded and struggling for advice and answers. We have a team of highly qualified experts in both the electrical and engineering field who are always prepared and know what needs to be done.

Very often we arrive onsite to find the tools and equipment are not up to standard. TRIGVA not only provides the complete tool kits but replenishes stock and provides the necessary repairs and maintenance.
